Standards

Our standards ensure public and stakeholder trust in RICS accreditation. This accreditation means that when anyone employs an RICS professional, they are assured of quality.

Recent Standards adoption highlights include:

  • Singapore has launched a new Green Mark building certification scheme that incorporates principles from our Whole Life Carbon Assessment for the Built Environment professional statement.
  • the Abu Dhabi Government has referenced the Red Book in their new Abu Dhabi Valuation Standard. We will be working closely with the government to train and support the licencing of valuers in the region.
  • the Scottish Government has signalled strong support for ICMS 3 and their intention to encourage the industry to adopt the standard and related carbon guidance.
  • the Crown Commercial Service in the UK now requires that all public estates services are carried out by our regulated firms, so that they are delivered to RICS standards.
  • we have collaborated with the Indonesian Society of Appraisers, at the request of the World Bank, to develop guidance on the valuation of unregistered land – a significant issue in the region.
  • the Houses of Parliament in London are using IBOS on a new building on Victoria Street, very close to our Parliament Square headquarters, which will enable them to take a user-centred approach to the building.

Solutions for you and your business

A distinct advantage

In the business world of today, words such as ‘competitive advantage’ and ‘value add’ are easily promised but difficult to deliver. If you are already chartered qualified or looking to be – you don’t just hold an additional qualification. You possess a specialisation that gives you a distinct advantage over others.

Evidence shared shows businesses benefit from the skills, knowledge and experience of you as qualified professionals. You in turn help clients find new markets, increase productivity, assess processes and procedures. Thereby, creating greater efficiencies throughout business activities, resulting in increased profitability.

It is your dedication to learning and practice. Building on the internationally demanded pre-requisites of knowledge, competence, ethics, credibility, quality and consistency.

I like to compare my RICS membership with the Premier League. It shows my clients I'm part of the world’s leading professional body, which gives them the confidence they are in good hands.
