Meet the Board

Jonathan Wallis

Jonathan Wallis MRICS, FAAV

Jonathan is a self-employed Chartered Surveyor specialising in rural property. He qualified in 2008 and after working for two regional north east firms, set up his own practice in 2017. Jonathan specialises in valuation, landlord and tenant matters and negotiating. Jonathan joined the board in 2018 as he is passionate in advocating his profession and helping and supporting others, particularly younger members who are coming into the profession. 


Douglas Cranston MSc MRICS

Head of Property and Investment Director

MCM Group

Douglas is Head of Property and Investment Director at MCM Group – a regional Property Investment & Development Company. Prior to MCM Group he specialised in, and was Partner in Capital Markets at Knight Frank. Douglas also spent time earlier in his career working in Valuation, Lease Consultancy and Business Space Agency whilst at JLL and King Sturge. Douglas joined the board in 2019 and is passionate about promoting student engagement between local higher education establishments and the RICS.

Erland is a free-thinking, creative individual with a depth of experience gained across two continents on high-profile programs and projects within a leading global practice.  He has a broad range of end-market expertise developed through strong, direct client facing environments. He qualified in 1997 and formed his own practice in 2012. His vision and purpose is to enhance the performance of individuals, business and projects, deploying leading approaches and techniques to create successful outcomes.

Kenneth Kelley

Senior Lecturer

Nothumbria University

Kenneth is a Senior Lecturer and Chartered Building Surveyor specialising in Asset Management and BIM within the Heritage Sector.  He has worked across many sectors in the region, the South East and Middle East. Kenneth Joined the board in 2017 and Chairs the Building Surveying Professional Group in the region. He is passionate in promoting the profession through his STEM activities a long time APC assessor and mentor.

Zoe King MRICS

Associate Director, cost management


Turner & Townsend

Zoe is an Associate Director at Turner & Townsend working in the Real Estate team in Teesside. She is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with over 15 years’ experience in the region. She is a regional APC mentor as well as an APC Assessor and is a big advocate for the profession, helping others navigate college, university and their chartership.

Amy Gray MRICS

Property Graduate Manager

Office of Government Property, Cabinet Office

Amy is a Chartered Commercial Property Surveyor, with experience predominantly in valuation across a range of property types in both the private and public sectors. She is currently on secondment to the Office of Government Property, Cabinet Office, as Property Graduate Manager, leading on the management of the Property Fast Stream and APC training offer across the Government Property Profession. She is an APC assessor and is passionate about promoting the profession and supporting students, graduates and newly qualified members. Amy is Chair of RICS Matrics North East and attends the Regional Board Meetings as a representative of the younger RICS local membership
