Data and technology

Technology is developing at lightning fast speed, and with it comes challenges as well as opportunities.

Recent RICS research has emphasised the pace of technological change that is powering the digitisation of the built environment through blockchain, digital twins and other platforms.
Much of the drive to capture, verify and share this information is coming from organisations outside of the traditional property
We want to position ourselves as a hub that has the credibility to bridge between the tech sector and our profession.

Construction Technology

Fire safety is vital to the surveying community as it often relies on us to give guidance on this complex field. To meet the RICS rules of conduct we must be professional, competent and be aware of our responsibilities. Vitally of course we must give accurate and correct advice. Sometimes this is subjective, requiring the “reasonable” approach. I hope that we can, in this conference, explain, give advice and give clarity to the complex areas of fire safety. Giving references and understanding and a clear indication of where we are in this evolving field.
