Recently, I sat with members of the team at Fulcrum. As one of America's leading real estate and construction intelligence and risk management firms, Fulcrum assists their clients in managing risk throughout all stages of the real estate and construction life cycle. They have office locations throughout the U.S. and serve very specific needs of owners, developers, investors and lenders.
When I inquired as to why they decided to secure the "Regulated by RICS" status, I learned that the Fulcrum team is unique in its history of working with professional organizations and several of its leaders are RICS fellows. "The 'Fulcrum Family' is a diverse group of professionals that continue to set the standard within its industry. RICS is one of those professional affiliates that speak the same language when it comes to being a Professional," says Hugh Coyle FRICS, CEO and Manager.
Mr. Coyle FRICS has a very strong background in traditional quantity surveying, their Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Stephen Wright FRICS has a background in General Practice Surveying and one of their Directors Mr. Darren Seary FRICS has a background in building surveying.
Along with their other professional affiliates, the firm was always cognizant of the influence and impact of the RICS logo attached to their firm's name. Having a compatible professional affiliate in the RICS brand provided them instant confidence and security. Fulcrum refers to their RICS qualification, adoption and observance of standards during RFPs and other bidding processes with significant results. This encouraged the team to apply and go through the rigour of getting the official "Regulated by RICS" status.
You might ask what does "Regulated by RICS" mean? It is a status that shows the world that your firm practices to globally-recognized ethical and professional standards. The designation tells potential clients that you can be trusted to deliver high standards of service, which is monitored by an independent professional body. Regulated by RICS conveys a consistent message of confidence and quality to your clients whether they are local, national or international.
A testament to the influence of the Regulated by RICS status is the fact that there are more than 10,000 firms that have already successfully registered.
When I asked Hugh Coyle FRICS about acquiring the status, he proudly told me "it will not only help us consolidate the high recognition and trust we have earned within the market place, but I feel it also confirms that we are a very competent team because we went through the process. We're able to comply with all the stringent requirements."
As Fulcrum continues to grow, they are embarking on a Talent Management Program with the RICS team and similar programs with their other professional affiliates to continue expanding the "Fulcrum Family" professional environment.
This is a great example of a firm choosing to adopt a globally-recognized status which elevates their trust and confidence within the market place. At the same time, RICS – the global professional body continues to strengthen trust in the profession and enrich the built environment by supporting another firm to deliver world class service that is underpinned by a commitment to standards and professional assurance.
Coming up, there will be a Q&A with each of these three team members from Fulcrum. Stay tuned to read what they have to say about their experiences and the value of being affiliated with RICS.
