Experienced valuation professional Haider Baber AssocRICS explains the value of RICS membership to real estate professionals in the Middle East.
Being connected to the profession of valuation, I felt the need to get a global recognition for my skills. RICS is globally the most prestigious body. I’ve admired RICS-qualified members and wanted to achieve and follow the same professional standards.
The qualification has been a game changer. I received respect and recognition from my colleagues and clients after achieving this. Following the RICS guidelines, my services are of the highest professional standards. I feel more confident as a valuation professional.

Since qualifying, I’m on average getting a minimum of one offer every month to explore a new opportunity from recruiters and headhunters. Before this, I never had such extensive visibility in my career. And immediately after qualifying the firm I was working for promoted me with a big increase in my remuneration.
As a valuer, we need to adapt to the global changes and accept the technological innovations that are transforming the profession. We must understand factors that weren’t previously considered in valuations but that are now affecting real estate markets globally.
The guidelines, research and supporting courses offered by RICS cover the evolving built environment very comprehensively. A valuer must keep abreast with RICS efforts in the field, resulting in being enabled to cope with the challenges and changes of the evolving built environment.
I really enjoy the respect, recognition, prestige and confidence I get from my colleagues, clients and peers in my work as a valuer. RICS qualification has high esteem and worth in the Middle East real estate market.
